M67: A Closer Look at the American HE-Frag Hand Grenade
The M67 is a spherical, High-Explosive Fragmentation (HE-Frag) hand grenade designed for anti-personnel use—characterized by its smooth casing and powerful Comp-B fill. Unlike its Mk II "pineapple" predecessor, the M67 features a pre-scored inner wall to produce lethal fragmentation without the use of a coil.
Its evolution from the oval-shaped M33 to the modern spherical form was part of a broader modernization effort in U.S. ordnance. A pyrotechnic-delay (P-DLY) fuze system and safety pin mechanism make it simple to deploy—but dangerously unpredictable if misfired. EOD teams are trained to wait at least 30 minutes before approaching a dud, due to the risk of a hung striker.
Our mobile app now includes a high-fidelity AR model of the M67, perfect for instructional use and familiarization. Visualize, rotate, and inspect this grenade in full 3D from your phone—anywhere in the world. Check out the link for our mobile application at http://eodynamics.co/mobile-app.
